of stockhom i will be brief: the architecture museum was the best i have yet seen and, whilst generally commendable, my espresso did not live up to memories of espresso lost. today i have been performing errands and worrying widely and in some depth. i must be off to finish ironing shirts and polishing shoes.

one day earlier than promised, i will lay out the highlights of my trip. as you might expect, a lot of time was spent playing card games and baking bread. an excursion to the sea provoded ample opportunity to carry out my four ice cream dream, but i was foiled by a lack of essential variety. i went fishing twice and failed to catch, but a midnight crayfishing adventure prooved both bountious and delicious. we just missed the cut in the gusum regional minigolf qualifiers, but i was once again comforted by ice cream. i will doubtless fill some gaps and tell of high times in stockholm soon.

unless i am pleasently surprised this could be my last entry for a week as at 53o tomorrow morning i will be heading north again, flying up the country's length again. i was both saddened and excited to see that greenman was reviewed in today's times. if you bear a grudge against me i shall probably be carrying a large amount of currency on my journey so if you still think the bretton woods agreement is in force you can report me to the authorities, but i think mugging me might have a more propritious outcome (for you of course!).

a fun weekend passed in wales, the clouds parted and the sun shines on you and me. now smile everybody, don't you see it's gone and not even travis the tantrum can shake us to wake from this rainy slumber. in fact small(ish) children were a theme for the weekend, with will oldham drawing up a three part chorus for the newest version of "i am a cinematographer". i was remided of john coaxing a performance out of ken. now i am doing my laundry and looking forward to a night's sleep without a stone in my back.

somehow both my imminent wales trip, and next week's swedish adventure, have prooved more complex in terms of organisation then i had expected. no matter of course, i will have the opportunity to blog from stockholm (here's hoping i meet tyler brule) and if the sun shines down on us wales might be the new oslo. went up to london yesterday and found an attractive bag. as so often i baulked at the price, went for a walk and before i knew it i was home.

little excitement today, i have mainly been performing my back office functions. if anyone would like to make an offer i am looking to outsource. the most exciting thing that i have seen today is this. pffff.

my scottish trip has again both reinforced my confidence in my own judgment and (re)opened avenues of entertainment which have been quiet of late. i can confirm that the sword swallower does indeed talk too much, but i totally missed any mythical gait. went to 3 shows which is a new festival record, but i think i enjoyed the botanical gardens more. i enjoyed a night out in glasgow the most though, and must thank my dear host once more for deploying her encylopedic local knowledge to my advantage. i am quite tired now, so might cover more northern news in a later post.

well, suddenly i have to get a new coat and all i can think of is judy garland and my dream of mint and gingham. since my last post i have been on a london picknick/ultrathon adventure which saw me tread more miles in and around our fair capital than i ever have before. thankfully there is a cricket match on now, so i can avoid all the tiresome unpacking and organisational activities slated for this overcast day.

once more, i am heading north of the border this summer to see some kind of dramatic endeavor, drink a pint of guiness or two and possibly have an awkward conversation with mark watson. today two small children and accompanying grandparents came for tea, lego instruction (i stood tall) and sneezing. i have started writing lists which means that i am restless i think, but it is highly unlikely that i will finish everything as i have had the audacity to include "- unpack".

oh where to begin? at the beginning i hear you cry, so i shall. i have watched almost all of the recently concluded test match and must say that it may be the most exciting i have seen. if you can lip read then the words of geraint jones on taking the final catch would just about sum it up. moreover, last night saw the now annual party at the jones house, and i must say that it was of the best and brightest. not aided by the pre-party cava, but neither hindered, i flitted and floated attending conversation and joviallity whenever an oppportunity presented it's self. or so it seemed from my perspective. today i went to the v&a and as ever following miss pym's recomendations on such matters prooved the path to tread to keep life sweet.

spent all day today watching the cricket and as no one else was home i have been quite immersed in today's play. when a new aussie batsman came out i would shout "hutch" a few times, wring my hands and then change the channel so that they might be out when i changed back. occasionally this worked and i would be pleased, but mostly i just got annoyed that there was nothing else worth watching and make an espresso insted. i am unsure how i will get to slepp tonight but i am sure this can be managed somehow.

i was suppoosed to write this last night, but i will condese to the bare facts in bullet form:
  • strimpelarama - yesterday's times, T2 p.7 if you have a copy handy, or just boogle your eyes and emmit a low groan.
  • networking drinks in brick lane environs. all perfectly fine except that i could only communicate via 80s style stand-up rants ("don't you hate it when.....") and not so many people turned up.
  • i spent over an hour trying to remember phil ochs' name on the train coming home whilst a drunken dutchman shouted around me.
i am reduced to cooking food and walking about, so if we meet up soon try and keep me in a place which is not a kitchen and maybe you will get a nice surprise.

time passes. got a job teaching a kid maths today which is quite nice as it gives me something to do for a week or two when i am at a loose end. i think i need to try and read "tom jones" with more gusto as i shall probably never bother to start it again, but i am reading something else for now which is superior as it uses less adjectives. i wonder if, had i not been to tromso or had i missed some other formative experience, i might find such saparsity tiresome rather than refreshing.
