exam mania descending on my brain has made me a bit on edge. as ever, this is driven by my lack of preparation and has yielded some constructive work today. lets hope there is more tomorrow. all this study was broken today by a trip to yauatcha for a late lunch. they do seem to have managed some diversification from the cantonese school of yum cha which perhaps better matches the all day eating aesthetic. had a smashing dish of aubergine and okra which reminded e of chindao - high praise indeed.

finally had the full gamut of hard food at mr jerk last night. i doubt i shall ever truly digest the dumpling element which appeared to be made entirely without leaven. i am glad to report that the lengthy weekend was well served by chillaxing, braised lettuce and dancing, with moderate amounts of study. it is time for my study habit to become totally immoderate, if my slightly jangled nerves are anything to go by.

this week has been rather trying, but much has been achieved. this weekend will hopefully see some study, some relaxation and some dancing. i will let you know how i get on.

if you are lucky you will see me soon in a new shiny suit (maybe even worn with a t shirt). been doing some decent culinary work lately in the fields of bagel and dahl. sunday saw a wonder in east london fuelled by the former to buy spices for the latter. brick lane gestalt in action.

not been at work so much this week due to study time, but if i am honest not really enough to show for the hours out of the office. perhaps tomorrow will be very productive indeed and all will be well. other than my non-study i have bought a suit and had dinner with edmond who is happily back in london, perhaps more of which next week.

super 2 part documentry on bbc iplayer from jonathan meades - he even gets nibbled clean by fish in just the way i suggested to young simon a decade ago. watch now.
paris with e was splendid. ate some rather delicious food at ledoyen (fine macaroni and truffle encased egg yolk were particularly notable) and la table joel robuchon. the surroundings in both restaurant were wonderfully, if variously, in bad taste. saw a good deal of the parisian street too, in an attempt to reverse the potentially disastrous effect of all the rich food.
