yesterday was mainly spent constructing a first attempt at a lobster russian salad, which is an idea i have been thinking about since i went to san sebastian a while back (google reveals not uniquely). as a first attempt it was not too bad, but room to improve. today i made a lot of rillettes, and went to see frances ha - would heartily recommend both.

e and i went to yorkshire last week - three days getting a bit sunburnt walking over the dales.  we had some nice beer, ate some good food and read thrillers.  perhaps most excitingly, we saw lots of birds - curlew, oyster catcher, wagtails and even a grouse.
