was in vienna last week for a holiday - good times. we ate local specialities across the city, but perhaps two meals are of particular note. we had a good lunch at steiereck - long lists of snacks, tasty turbot, delicious cheese. perhaps the most memorable element of the meal was a lovely bottle of riesling from knoll, and partly inspired by this we went to the wachau for the day. i can't think of a nicer setting for a summer lunch than loibnerhof, and the food was great too - fish soup, salads, duck and chanterelles. as well as good opportunities to eat, i would recommend the museums of vienna - particularly the breugals in the national gallery.
