last night i went to see the fantastic mr fox with e at curzon mayfair: it is great! the animation is sort of deliberately bad in places to great effect and as ever with wes anderson films the cast, the music and the design are charming.

this week has been spent in a hotel outside schipol airport among the krazy dutchies, eating meat and talking shop. when i had finally returned via the hell hole of heathrow, e and i went to bibendum for a roast chicken, and what a roast chicken we got. go now.

i am back from turin. sodden with bitter liqueurs. stuffed with tiny sandwiches and other bar snacks. awe-struck at the glories of the alps. thrilled to the very marrow by the honorable schoolboy. happy.

semi-epic meal at st john yesterday with jamie and e - camparis all round followed by cuttlefish, sucking pig and wet walunt ice cream. to quote st john chef on twitter - "all hail the ww".

back from edinburgh weekend happy but absolutely shattered. on friday i was pleasantly surprised by the overnight train from euston, and in particular i enjoyed my miniature laphroig in the bar. saturday saw an incredibly windy aurther's seat, a decent fry up and a charming housewarming in ladybank. and somehow today has all been travel and weariness, even unto a lovely rendang in puji-puji.
