the great man has a new album coming soon, and there is already a video out for the single and a sort of promo/trailer. consistant with what has become the oldham accepted visual vernacular, both are completely bonkers. the song is quite good, but i await the album from whence it came before i come down one way or the other. oldham is looking good though. like me, he appears to be veering towards an empireburlesque/ohmercy-era bob dylan in sympathy with the impending release of the miami vice movie.

goodness me, i wish i had a television.

i would like to write a post about political parties. i would like to write a post about new birth. i would like to write a post about the press. more than any of these i would like to write a post about the alp d'huez. but insted i will leave you with a single fact:

last night i was drinking in a bar with gary lieh. it was in his office.

today i have wallowed a little in the test match and have not acchieved all that i might. no matter. at least i made it to the movies to see taxi driver. not too shabby at all. and i performed investigations into the malfunctions of the washing machine. i am resolved to do better at treating everyone with my chipper demeanour next weekend. the game needs me like banks need collat.

if every i get to go out with an older woman i sure hope her name is laura cantrell.

one man's "model" is another's banal calculation - discuss. i have been reading bywater's blog by some circuitous circumstance. guido is going too far atl for my liking so i am scanning beneath the parapet for something less popular. so far i have ony found advertoblogs for flat screen televisions and so forth. maybe they are the subversive future of the internet.

lessions learned from a recent excursion:

• that a fried breakfast is always a good thing
• to never travel by coach and
  
• that it is not necessary to reinact a scene from a famous film simply because the opportunity presents its self

it has been a hard year, no doubt about that. so hard that i can't even recall what was wrong with janurary. apart from the obvious. anyway, i have just been to see the magnificent ambersons, which i recommend to you all (if you wonder why i am always recommmending films and never warning you off it is because i like to forget my cinematic misfortunes as i am such a thoroughly optimistic soul - i digress). it made me think about mt strategy in the markets in which i operate (job, housing, friends, lovers etc...) and made me doubt my hedge fund like search for alpha. maybe i should believe all the science, i thought, and just buy the market. then i thought of the serious consequences of such transgression. nandos for one. and all the pissing about. maybe i am destined for a year of sorrows. at least it wont look out of place when i come to write my autobiography.
