could be a late one tonight - i feel a marks and spencer's dinner coming on. luckily i sneeked lunch at ginger pig - quite the best sausage rolls on offer in christendom. more annoying french stuff - i wish the eu would do something about nationalistic bozos saving pride by stopping progress. almost as bad as back door nationalisation of crock.

how would they have reacted to a us nationalisation of enron? didn't the someone contimental get shirty about the dp world fiasco? anyway, best get back to it as (as you may have gathered) i have provaricated enough already today.

inappropriate laughter today brought on by alphaville. read today's markets live. now. snippet of genius:

"....at one point he managed to dispose of dozens of transactions by hiding them inside vol-au-vent cases and holding a fake reception"

i am miffed to be on a course in oxford at the moment - i must be missing some amusing stuff over at alphaville with all the vol on the markets. thinking that this might be opportunity to sleep for 10 hours which i seem to crave everyday, no matter the preceding levels of exertion.

as we near the end of week three of 2008, i feel that too much remains undone and unplanned. i need to make a plan to get me through the exams, but i dont really want have any desire to map my mountain of revision. no real idea why gloom pervades my post as this has been rather a fun week. ate some great food at bar shu, woodlands and in dalston. passed a few delicious moments of solitude by the thames at night. but i would like it to be may and balmy. surely it will come in time.

in further climactic musing it looks like the hours clauses might be invoked again this weekend which, on top of the BA loss and a tanker grounding in the channel, might prove costly when Q1 is accounted for.

medium to strenuous weekend - i went to pevensey (twice). today saw my grandfather's ninetieth birthday party which was by turns busy, enormous and strangely moving. the journey was awful today, more than 6 hours on trains and buses. yesterday saw e drive me under much more pleasant circumstances to pevensey when the party should have been if the world were a just place. in fact we spent a pleasant afternoon in the castle, lunching at a pub and walking by the sea. how very foolish i felt to arrive with no party on the go or, even due to start that day. rather tired now though, so i am off to bed.

went to the other foot last night - pretty decent all round. do go, it is practically empty. some spume/foam/ice cream and so on which goes against 2008's first culinary theme. not my most productive day at work today, but i suppose one must be resigned to enforced indolence from time to time.

today sees what might become one of the key themes of 2008 come into focus - hard food. given 2007 was dominated to some extent by nitrogen poached gels and spume this would perhaps be some welcome relief. to continue this culinary riff i have changed my favoured tayyabs fare to dry meat, a toothsome morsel indeed. i have been reading andy hayler's site whilst i am waiting for spreadsheets to calculate and it makes me think about doing another paris jaunt for 3 star lunch. make that my resolution for 2008 (or at least one of them).
