so i did a bit of cooking on saturday, in part to recover from time spent in airports last week. as well as a bit of charcuterie (of which perhaps more later), i baked some sourdough which i am happy with - quite possibly its ravishing appearance is due to the new basket E gave me for proving.  i have had the culture going for a while now and it seems to have settled down into a happy little chap after a semi-traumatic birth.

 

i have been watching "girls" on DVD this week - have to say it is pretty good. i think it is kind of like a sanitised and extended version of first big weekend of the summer, only transposed from boys to girls, glasgow to sub-williamsberg brooklyn, pre-internet porn to post internet porn &c&c&c.

today everyone seems to be a bit sad. i don't really know why this should be. for me, there may be contributory factors: dinner at zucca last night for the first time in a while (including drinking my share of a bottle of lagerin) and listening to the delgados right before bed (see below).
